Max Patch

Max Patch is a "bald" mountain top with a 360 degree view that extends from North Carolina to Tennessee and from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to Mount Mitchell and all around. It is maintained as a "bald" by the United States Forest Service. I am told there are Trillium growing here and putting on fruit now but, I did not see any this day. 

Triple Treat

 We were happy to have a triple treat last night when we found these three pretty birds all at one overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Waynesville, North Carolina.

It was the first Scarlet Tanager for Jean which made the sighting extra special.

The temperature was about 67 degrees, just right.
